Dear Friends
We all have been fighting Covid 19 in our ways since one year now. The emergence of second and third wave, rising infection , Community spread is beginning to push us to re-strategising Covid Management. I have been writing on this since one year. Again I am sharing here some analysis for all of us to fight this pandemic and save lives. These are;
- Join hands especially the government, technologists, business sector and civil society. Media must highlight such collaborative efforts. Such collaboration should happen at central, state and district level.
- Decentralised Planning and Management. At the central level regulatory framework is being developed continuously and it’s necessary to use this framework for decentralised planning and management.
- Increasing vaccination is a part of the Covid Management strategy ( CMS). This calls for strategy for fighting Covid Hesitancy, promoting Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and facilitation of the vaccination process at the vaccination centre level by CSOs, VOs. PM has clearly made repeated appeal for civil society engagement. The issue of Comorbidity has not been adequately explained and disseminated among people. Dr KK Agarwal’s “Medtalk” is one such efforts.
- Use technology optimally to promote CAB, CMS, fight CH ( Covid Hesitancy), conduct Micro surveillance.
- How about work on building a statistical model to project state wise vaccine demand and fine tune the vaccine supply system. The vaccine Logistics to follow this model. It can be done with the case load pattern in the states. Create an Intervention Stock that can be used to manage uncertainties , this intervention stock should stay at the disposal of the MoH&FW.
- Ramp up Vaccine production and supply management facilities.The Private sector must be extended financial support, if necessary special packages must be made like we do for financing food procurement. RBI’s intervention may be needed.
- The process at the vaccination centre level calls for improvement. I have studied it carefully and will be writing about it soon.
- Let us say NO to any form of gathering be it political, religious, entertainment, games and sports. Government has a definite role in it. Civil Society, Media and Judiciary must build pressure to enforce it seriously. Why can’t we stop elections and religious festivities till the situation improves? Is political WILL absent in this humanitarian crisis.
- Let us build our collectivisation efforts sincerely and seriously by bringing all stakeholders together. An effort is being made to create a common platform “ICCV “ Indian Collective for Covid Vaccination by using the learning from the Solution Exchange Initiative done for Disaster Management.
