Hi! Can anyone enlighten me when the 2nd dose of covishield will be scheduled? In the COWIN FAQ, it is mentioned that 4-8 weeks ( while an interval of 6-8 weeks gives an enhanced protection).COWIN page is also showing vaccination due after 4 weeks and allowing to schedule 2nd dose after 4 weeks. However, my experience with my dad is that after scheduling appointment on 40th day after 1st dose, the pvt hospital( listed in cowin) refused to provide vaccine before 42days. When asked them to give it writing, they also did that. It is utterly confusing. So any guidance on this from esteemed members will be useful.
It is 6-8 weeks. No vaccination centre would give the second shot before six weeks in case of Covishield. Even if it gets further delayed, it shouldn’t bother you. According to Dr Guleria, even two months gap is fine. However, in case of elderly people one shouldn’t take that chance. There might be a bit of shortage after 1st May when vaccine will be available to 18+ people. Some experts say, focus should be to give first jab to as many people as possible as that brings down the rate of infection.
